Where It All Began
Westgate Resorts was founded in 1982 and has become the largest privately held corporation in Central Florida. The 1700-acre, isolated property emulates the whole wild west experience with endless activities and adventure. Westgate River Ranch Resort is known for its unique guest accommodations, one being the Luxe Conestoga Wagon. The 495-square-foot wagon is composed of various materials, sourced from all around the country, to give guests an authentic ranch experience in an old western-style wagon.
The Search for the Perfect Wagon Cover
Our friends at Westgate River Ranch were on the hunt for original wagon covers to complete their overnight glamping experience. This project is unique to Rainier Outdoor because it’s the first time we’ve manufactured fabric covers for rustic glamping wagons. We kept the elevated authenticity of this old western space in mind and got to work! Our engineering team came up with a structurally-sound product that would enhance the classic elements of 9 Luxe Conestoga Wagons. We used a stretch system and heavy-duty vinyl fabric to cover the dimensions of the long roof. This single system of fabric reaches the front-facing structure and latches onto the wagon using a screw jack tension system. In addition, our team engineered the finished interior roofing, consisting of the same heavy-duty vinyl fabric.
The Engineering Process
These vinyl covers were designed to take advantage of the outstanding views within the ranch and its 400,000 acres of conservation and land. Westgate River Ranch needed a fabric system that would be weather-resistant and long-lasting, considering the uniqueness of this structure. Each wagon includes the 15’ by 34’ long heavy-duty vinyl and 5 metal hoops to hold the fabric in place. The screw jack tension system allows for an increased range of actuation in terms of variable positioning. The roof is strategically positioned to hold the shape of an old western wagon cover.
